In May 2025, Casale’s CEO Federico Zardi and Global Commercial Director Paolo Bonucci visited the headquarters of Xin Lian Xin Group in Xinxiang, China, for a high-level meeting that culminated in the signing of a Strategic Cooperation Agreement — a new milestone in a partnership that has grown steadily over more than a decade, injecting new momentum for future collaboration and further consolidating the deep mutual trust built over time between the two companies.
Zhang Qingjin, General Manager of Xin Lian Xin Group, welcomed the Casale delegation.
The visit included a tour of Xin Lian Xin’s corporate culture exhibition hall and urea production facilities, offering a comprehensive overview of the Group’s evolution and technological achievements. Discussions focused on shared innovation goals, low-carbon process development, and future collaboration on sustainable and intelligent production solutions.
During the visit, Mr. Zardi remarked:
“Xin Lian Xin's production management finesse and technological innovation are impressive — and represent the key elements Casale seeks for long-term partnership.”
Casale and Xin Lian Xin have signed 10 technology supply contracts over the years, including:
- 8 ammonia synthesis units
- 3 urea synthesis plants
(some contracts include both units in integrated complexes)
The most recent contract concerns the development of a second ammonia-urea complex, which will feature:
- 2,700 MTD of Ammonia, based on N-LOOP™, Casale’s industry-leading process and the most referenced ammonia technology worldwide over the past decade
- 3,500 MTD of Urea, marking the world’s first application of Casale’s new HYPER-U™ technology in a grassroots plant
HYPER-U™ is Casale’s latest innovation in urea production: an improved self-stripping process incorporating a Medium-High Pressure (MHP) decomposition stage. This breakthrough significantly reduces steam and cooling water demand to the lowest level in the market, enhances thermal efficiency, and lowers operational costs — while drastically cutting the plant’s carbon footprint.
This project establishes a key global reference for the application of HYPER-U in the fertilizer industry.
During the meeting, Mr. Zhang highlighted the significance of this milestone:
“Casale is now the global benchmark of urea technology, and this cooperation is not only a technical complement, but also provides the ultimate solutions for the quality, efficiency, and green development of Chinese agriculture.”
The signing of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement reinforces the long-standing trust between the two companies and formalizes a joint commitment to:
- Advancing green fertilizer production
- Integrating next-generation engineering solutions
- Promoting technological innovation for sustainable agriculture
In addition, both parties agreed to establish regular technical exchanges and form joint working teams to ensure the seamless implementation of current and future projects. This structured approach will allow for faster alignment, more agile development, and the ability to promptly respond to market challenges and opportunities.
This new agreement marks not only the continuation of a successful relationship but also a forward-looking alliance committed to reshaping the fertilizer industry through innovation, responsibility, and global impact.
