Casale is thrilled to announce its recent contract with Duro Felguera SA, a Mota-Engil subsidiary, to provide licensing and preliminary engineering services for a new fertilizer complex for Pemex in Escolin, Veracruz, Mexico.
The upcoming state-of-the-art facility will feature:
- A cutting-edge 1200 MTD ammonia production plant utilizing Casale's N-ELEVA™ process.
- A 2125 MTD granular urea melting plant, which incorporates the innovative Split Flow Loop® and Casale Green Granulation® technologies.
The project, managed by Mota-Engil Mexico on behalf of PEMEX Transformación Industrial, will unfold in three phases:
- Phase One: Spanning four to six months, focusing on engineering feasibility studies to ensure optimal implementation.
- Phase Two: Construction expected to extend over 42 months with an investment totaling $1.2 billion, laying the physical groundwork for the complex.
- Phase Three: Operational management of the plant over a 20-year period, marking the long-term commitment to sustainable production.
This significant development aims to reduce Mexico’s reliance on imported fertilizers significantly, fostering economic growth through extensive local job creation.
The technological innovations to be implemented are noteworthy for their efficiency and sustainability:
- Split Flow Loop®: Ensures high CO2 conversion, stripping and carbamate condensation efficiency, with reduced energy usage.
- N-ELEVA™: Features a proven design with optimized costs and low energy consumption
- Green Granulation™: Guarantees high product quality with minimal investment and energy costs.
This partnership underscores Casale’s commitment to advancing global agricultural productivity through sustainable and innovative technological solutions.
