On 21st of January 2015 Chemoproject Nitrogen (CHPN) signed a contract with Yara AB, Sweden for a new 685 MTD nitric acid plant to be erected in Köping (Sweden).
CHPN will act as full EPC contractor and will rely on license and basic design furnished by Casale, which has recently acquired from Borealis the Nitrates and Phosphates complete technology package and know-how, formerly known as GPN technology.
The Yara contract is based on state-of-the-art technology, improving energy efficiency and further reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the Köping plant. The construction will start in 2015, with completion expected in the second half of 2017.
“We are very happy for the confidence entrusted by such a reputable and well known company as Yara on our capabilities and experience and this new project will add to the 9 nitric acid plants we already built in the last 10 years" says Mr T. Plachy, CEO of CHPN.
Mr G. Guarino, CEO of Casale and Chairman of CHPN adds: “This project is of particular relevance for Casale as it timely comes right after last year’s acquisition of the Nitrates and Phosphates technology package from Borealis, marking the first project executed by CHPN based on technology and know-how supplied by Casale after Casale Holding’s recent acquisition of the control of CHPN”.
